VII.  Jonathan LEWIS (1798-1862) m Margaret ? (1809-1890)

Jonathan was born on the 8th of August 1798 in Massachusetts and died on the 12th of August 1862 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas and is buried at Mt. Holly cemetery (lot 587 E. Grand Street) in Little Rock Arkansas.  Jonathan was a gunsmith/machinist and was employed by the U.S. Government as a blacksmith to the Wyandot Indians in Upper Sandusky, Ohio around 1832.  John married Margaret around 1831 in North Carolina.  Margaret was born on the 3rd of June 1809 in Moore County, North Carolina and died the 24th of January 1890 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried at Mt. Holly cemetery (lot 587) in Little Rock, Arkansas.  She was also affiliated with the 1st Presbyterian church.

Jonathan and Margaret had the following children:

(1) Herod "Pony" Lewis was born around 1831-1934 and died on the 16th of January 1890 in Little Rock (208 Boyd), Arkansas and is buried in Mt. Holly cemetery in the same location.  Herod married Harriet E. around 1858 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(2) John Lewis was born in 1837 at Moore County, North Carolina and died on the 28th of June 1861 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Mt. Holly cemetery in the same city.  John was an engineer by trade.

(3) Robert A. Lewis was born on the 12th of May 1839 in the Flint District of the Cherokee Nation and died from a fever on the 12th of April 1870 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Oakland cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(4) Charles Durward Lewis was born on the 13th of August 1840 in the Flint District of the Cherokee Nation and died on the 18th of January 1897 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Oakland cemetery (lot 87 Magnolia Street) in Little Rock Arkansas.  Charles married Elizabeth Theresa Fischer on the 26th of July 1870 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(5) Captain Harvey Lewis was born on the 16th of February 1842 in the Flint District of the Cherokee Nation and died on the 31st of December 1912 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Oakland cemetary in the same city.  Harvey married Theresa M. J. Cathurin on the 11th of February 1866 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(6) Didimus Lewis was born around 1843.

(7) Mary Lewis was born in 1846 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died on the 12th of August 1848 in Little Rock and is buried in Mt. Holly cemetery in Little Rock Arkansas.

 

 

VI.  Charles Durward LEWIS (1840-1897) m Elizabeth Theresa FISCHER (1849-1923)

Charles Durward Lewis was born on the 13th of August 1840 in the Flint District of the Cherokee Nation and died from chronic nephritis on the 13th of January 1897 in Little Rock (701 Rector), Pulaski County, Arkansas and is buried in Oakland cemetery (lot 87 Magnolia) in Little Rock.  Charles was a blacksmith by trade.  Charles fought for the Confederate States of America and enlisted in Woodruff's Artillery Battery (Pulaski Light Artillery Battery) when it was first formed in May 1861 and participated in the Confederate victory at Wilson's Creek Missouri and was discharged on September 2, 1861 when the battery was mustered out after the battle.  Charles married Elizabeth on the 26th of July 1870 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Elizabeth was born on the 12th of May 1849 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died on the 1st of December 1923 in Little Rock and is buried in Oakland cemetery in the same city.  Elizabeth was affiliated with the Old German Catholic religion and was the daughter of Henry Fischer and Anna Catherina Knapp.

Charles and Elizabeth had the following children:

(1) Henry Lewis was born in 1871 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died on the 28th of January 1921 in Little Rock and is buried in Calvary cemetery (sec. C, lot 58) in the same city.  Henry married Emma Brunk on the 23rd of October 1895 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(2) William Hagen Lewis was born on the 23rd of October 1872 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died on the 14th of January 1929 in Little Rock and is buried in Roselawn cemetery in the same city.  William married Kate Dreher on the 8th of November 1899 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Kate was born on the 28th of August 1873 and died on the 2nd of May 1956.

(3) Elizabeth ("Bessie") Enmarion Lewis was born on the 2nd of August 1876 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died from nephritis on the 14th of January 1915 in Little Rock and is buried in Oakland Cemetery (lot 87- Magnolia) in the same city.  Elizabeth married Walter Cyrus Clark on the 23rd of January 1901 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(4) Lena "Neenie" Lewis was born on the 11th of October1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died on the 4th of August 1931 in Little Rock and is buried in Calvary cemetery in the same city.  Lena married John "Jack" Humphrey McCarthy around 1900 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

V.  Elizabeth ("Bessie") Enmarion LEWIS (1876-1915) m Walter Cyrus CLARK (1871-1928) 

Elizabeth was born on the 2nd of August 1876 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas and died from nephritis on the 14th of January 1915 in Little Rock and is buried in Oakland cemetery (lot 87 - Magnolia) in the same city.  Elizabeth married Walter Cyrus Clark on the 23rd of January 1901 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Elizabeth was affiliated with the Catholic church.  After Elizabeth died, her children Alonzo and Evelyn lived with Will and Kate Lewis and Evelyn was later adopted while Catherine was given to Lena Lewis McCarthy.  Catherine was sent to Mount Saint Mary's Boarding School where her great aunt was the mother superior.

Elizabeth and Walter had the following children:

(1) Alonzo Durward Clark was born on the 19th of December 1901 in Little Rock, Arkansas and died on the 17th of May 1967 in North Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Rest Hills cemetery in the same city.  Alonzo married Wilma Emma Lydia Gibson on the 14th of February 1925 in McCrory, Woodruff County, Arkansas.

(2) Catherine Clark was born on the 30th of May 1904 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas and died the 19th of May 1992 in Fremont, California and is buried in Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Hayward, California.  Catherine married Sylvester J. Hampel on the 2nd of April 1923 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

(3) Evelyn Lucien Clark was born on the 14th of November 1910 in Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi and died on the 19th of February 1990 in North Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried in Roselawn cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Evelyn married Charles H. Beroset on the 14th of February 1936 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

IV.  Alonzo Durward CLARK (1901-1967) m Wilma Emma Lydia GIBSON

Alonzo was born on 19 December 1901 at Little Rock, Pulaski County, AR and died on 17 may 1967 at N. Little Rock, AR.  He married Wilma Emma Lydia Gibson on 14 February 1925.  Wilma was born on 19 May 1903 at Mc Crory, Woodruff County, AR and died on 20 January 1970 at Austin, Lonoke County, AR.  She was the daughter of James Gibson and Ollie Henderson.
